Areas of Interest

Areas of Interest

Clinical Interest for Patients
I direct The Child Protection Team at The Children's hospital and Kempe Center. Our mission is to offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary consultation, assessment, treatment and referral services for children and adolescents who may have been physically or sexually abused or neglected. Sensitive and best practice care is our goal.

Care Philosophy
My mentor in history, Dr. C. Henry Kempe started one of the country’s first child protection teams in 1958 at University Hospital and also founded the Kempe Center, which has been recognized as a leader in the fight against child abuse. I follow his philosophy of starting with empathy, compassion, and non-judgment as I evaluate a child and or family's concerns about child abuse. Every child and family deserves both the intellectual time and caring attention that is needed.

Personal Interests
I enjoy gardening, the arts in all forms, and winter outdoor activities.

Volunteer Activities
I am dedicated to volunteer work in my hospital and with its community partners as part of my role as pediatric faculty. I am active in raising awareness about the issue of child abuse and fundraising for arts organizations that support access for children to the arts in our community.
