Children’s celebrates 100 years of providing pediatric care and one year in its new home
Children's Hospital Colorado celebrated 100 years as a pediatric hospital in 2008. What began as a 30-bed hospital has grown over decades to become a 270-bed facility that is one of the nation's top pediatric hospitals. Read more about the hospital’s 100 years of history.
September 2008 also marked the first year in our new state-of-the-art facility in Aurora. Every detail of the new hospital was specifically designed to help kids get better faster – including the design, décor, landscaping, color schemes and patient flow. Since the new main campus location opened, Children's Hospital Colorado has seen 21% more patients over its former downtown Denver site. Read more about our first year in our new hospital.
Children’s receives accolades for its excellence in pediatric healthcare
Children’s was recognized by Colorado Biz magazine as the top healthcare company in Colorado for 2008. The magazine’s Top Company award is Colorado’s most competitive business award program and Children’s is honored to top their list!
Children's Hospital Colorado also won a prestigious award recognizing the Hospital's significant culture change promoting patient safety during the Nov. 14, 2008 Colorado Patient Safety Coalition Conference. Read more about the award.

Children's Colorado expands
Children's Colorado opened a new location in 2008 – Children's Hospital Colorado North Campus, Broomfield. The brand-new, 46,000 square foot facility provides 24/7 care, specialist care by appointment, advanced diagnostics and imaging services. Learn more about the North location.
Children’s Grassroots Advocacy Network helped to improve Colorado children’s well-being in 2008
Each year Children's Hospital Colorado works to positively influence public policy decisions related to children’s health and well-being.
During the legislative session, members of Children's Hospital Colorado Grassroots Advocacy Network made over 3,300 contacts to state legislators on bills related to children’s health and safety.
