KidStreet and Mother Nature Play Together
KidStreet at Children's Hospital Colorado, a program for young children with complex medical needs, has Mother Nature on its side. KidStreet has a beautiful garden and landscape created specifically for the kids by members from the Associated Landscape Contractor of Colorado (ALCC).
"Touching the lamb's ear and smelling thyme really helps them focus," says Barbara Jordon, a physical therapist at KidStreet.
The landscape was specifically designed to accommodate medical needs and utilized materials that minimize dust – like using cobblestone in place of traditional bark mulch. It also contains plant materials that do not attract bees – in order to minimize exposure to bee stings.
