Children's Hospital Colorado Receives Distinguished Magnet Redesignation for Excellence in Nursing
Children's Hospital Colorado has received recognition for excellence in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. This credential recognizes continuing excellence in nursing and overall patient care at Children's Hospital Colorado.
Children’s first achieved Magnet designation in 2005 and is presently one of only eight Magnet-designated hospitals in the state.Children’s joins the ranks of only three percent of U.S. hospitals that have achieved Magnet redesignation—a process considered even more rigorous than achieving initial designation. Currently, only 378 of the nearly 6,000 U.S. healthcare organizations have achieved Magnet recognition.
"This is a validation of the level of excellence in our organization," said Kelly Johnson, MSN, RN, CRRN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer, Children's Hospital Colorado. "This Magnet redesignation, coupled with our recent U.S. News and World Report 'Best Children's Hospitals' recognition, speaks volumes about our hospital's local and national reputation of providing the very best care to our patients and families."
Research demonstrates that patients largely benefit from visiting a hospital with Magnet status. Magnet hospitals report improved clinical outcomes, fewer patient falls, fewer medication errors, lower mortality rates, and higher patient and family satisfaction. Magnet hospitals also tend to have lower nursing turnover and an improved nurse work environment.
