Abs of Steel: Patient Planks Her Way into the Record Books
Holding an abdominal plank longer than two minutes is no easy feat, however Children’s Colorado patient, Gabi Ury, 16, took on the challenge and broke the record for women’s longest abdominal plank . Ury held in a plank position for over 80 minutes, despite facing a lifetime of medical challenges.
Ury was born with VATER or VACTERL syndrome, a condition characterized by potential abnormalities throughout the vertebrae, trachea, kidneys, limbs and more.
"I have pretty serious scoliosis and am missing some of my muscles-calf, glutes, and part of my abs. I have had 14 major surgeries in order to live a healthy, happy life," said Ury.
