Children's Hospital Colorado Named a "Most Wired" Hospital for 2014
Children's Hospital Colorado has been named a 2014 "Most Wired" hospital by Hospitals and Health Networks (H&HN) magazine. The award recognizes hospitals and health systems for having excellent IT capabilities in a variety of areas such as the routine use of electronic health systems and digital clinical imaging. This is the second year in a row the Children's Colorado has received the accolade.
The "Most Wired list" is determined every year from the data collected in Health Care's Most Wired Survey, a national questionnaire that is sent to hospitals and healthcare systems about their IT initiatives. There were 680 surveys were submitted this year, representing 1,900 hospitals, or roughly 33 percent of all U.S. hospitals.
Excellence in Healthcare Information and Technology
"The 'Most Wired' survey is an industry standard benchmarking tool that measures our progress in things including clinical integration such as PedsConnect, CORHIO, and CareEverywhere; quality and safety initiatives such as our Target Zero work around risk profiles, analytics, and EPIC clinical decision support; business and administrative systems, IT infrastructure, and IT security," said Mary Anne Leach, CHCIO, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Children's Colorado.
According to the publication, hospitals and healthcare systems have made great strides in establishing robust clinical information systems aimed at improving patient care since the survey began 16 years ago. This includes adopting technologies to improve patient documentation, advance clinical decision support and evidence-based protocols, reduce the likelihood of medication errors, and rapidly restore access to data in the case of a disaster or outage.
"The 'Most Wired' designation is a great recognition of the truly excellent, innovative and meaningful work our IT teams do, every day, in partnership with our customers and stakeholders," Leach said.
