Before Your Visit: Insurance for Inpatient Visits and Outpatient Procedures

What to know about insurance before your visit

Children's Hospital Colorado strives to make the registration process for inpatient and outpatient procedures as convenient as possible. Preparing for your arrival to Children's Hospital Colorado often takes time and planning. Here are some things you can do to help make your visit a little easier.

What to do before your appointment

To expedite your registration process, you can pre-register your child by calling (720) 777-2947. When calling, please have your insurance card available. The pre-registration process should take less than 10 minutes. Pre-registration hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

After you pre-register, we will contact your insurance company to verify if authorization is required for your stay. Please keep in mind that an authorization is not a guarantee of payment. It is important to contact your insurance company prior to your visit for specific insurance plan benefits. See a list of insurance plans we accept.

When you arrive at the hospital

On the day of your child's admission, all patients need to check in at the Welcome Desk located on the first floor. When you register at central registration, we will give your child an armband for patient identification and take a photo of your child for patient safety.

Please be sure to bring your insurance card or a copy of the front and back of the card. You will be asked to provide patient, guarantor and subscriber demographics/insurance information.

We will also ask you to sign a "consent to treat" document, and a legal guardian must be present with the child at the time of registration or have legal documentation.

Foster families: what to bring

If you are a foster parent, please remember to bring all court documentation as well as the patient's caseworker name and phone number.
