The Department physicians provide consultation to community physicians for many common gastrointestinal problems of childhood, such as recurrent abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea or vomiting, and constipation, working closely and communicating with primary care providers to provide a timely evaluation and diagnosis and initiate the appropriate treatment plan. Members of the department are also actively involved in a variety of research programs in order to improve the health and care of children with GI and hepatic diseases.
