Areas of Interest
Clinical Interest for Patients
My clinical interests include management of complex arrhythmias through the use of medications and/or ablation for all types of supraventricular tachycardias, including atrial fibrillation, and ablation of ventricular tachycardias; as well as implantation of biventricular pacemakers and defibrillators.
Specific conditions treated and procedures performed include: •Atrial Fibrillation (AF or A fib) •Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) •Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW) •Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) •Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) •Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs) •Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) Implantation and Management •Pacemaker and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) Implantation and Management •Syncope (Fainting) •Palpitations (Rapid or Irregular Heart Beat) • Ablation
Care Philosophy
Cardiology and electrophysiology are highly technical fields utilizing the latest and most advanced technology to deliver outstanding care. However, at the end of the day, I believe that the best care for my patients involves listening to them, informing them about their illness, involving them in their care, and always doing what is in their best interests.
Personal Interests
I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, being in the outdoors, biking, and reading.
Volunteer Activities
I came here as a refugee from war and have been fortunate to gain the experiences that I have had, so that I can give back to the community. I have worked in homeless shelters, taught GED and ESL, vaccinated at-risk youths from hepatitis B, and worked to treat and prevent HIV/AIDS in impoverished communities.

Research & Grants
Research Interest for Patients
My research interests span both clinical and translational/basic research. Clinically, I am interested in exploring novel treatments for all types of arrhythmias and certain cardiac conditions (congestive heart failure) via new pharmacotherapeutics, ablation techniques, and device implantation.
I also run a full time basic science research laboratory where I study basic molecular mechanisms underpinning the development of arrhythmias. I have a special interest in how the development of scar in the heart can lead to arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardias and atrial fibrillation. I am working to translate these basic mechanisms to potential medical therapeutics for arrhythmias.
