The Rett Clinic
Program overview
The Rett Clinic at Children's Hospital Colorado was established thanks to a generous gift from the Rocky Mountain Rett Association. Our clinic officially started December 4, 2011.
Purpose of the clinic
Our services include consultation and evaluation for all people with Rett Syndrome to ensure they are receiving the needed therapies, treatments and services to live a quality life. We serve people of all ages.
Clinic goal
To provide the best consultative care and therapeutic advice for individuals with Rett Syndrome (and genetically related disorders); we also strive to provide up-to-date information on Rett Syndrome to parents, physicians, therapists and care providers; participate in ground-breaking clinical research trials and work as a team with the family and the primary care providers.
What your patient-family should expect during their visit
As a multidisciplinary clinic, we bring together 15 sub-specialty providers and therapists for an afternoon to provide a comprehensive evaluation. During your visit, you may see the following sub-specialty providers:
Family networking and refreshments are provided by our Rocky Mountain Rett Association Representative during clinic. It is a long afternoon, so toys and favorite snacks are encouraged to bring.
What happens after our visit to the Rett Clinic?
After the clinic, you and your primary care provider will receive a detailed letter with recommendations for treatment, test and therapies from our Rett Team Providers. Our Nurse Coordinator will work with you and your primary care provider to complete the recommendations listed. Even though your child may attend the Rett Clinic once a year or every other year, our Nurse Coordinator will stay in contact with your family to be a resource, and to assist in completing the annual health maintenance recommendations.
