Children's Hospital Colorado Concussion Program evaluates and treats children and teenagers who have sustained concussions and other mild head injuries. The Concussion Program aims to:
- provide high quality, multidisciplinary clinical care
- deliver scientifically accurate and up-to-date information about pediatric mild head injury
- conduct research to understand and manage the difficulties that can follow concussion

What does the Children's Hospital Colorado Concussion Program offer?
- medical examinations to evaluate and treat problems seen after concussion
- consultations to help with decisions about when an athlete should return to play sports
- neuropsychological evaluations to assess thinking areas potentially affected by concussion (e.g., attention, memory)
- development of treatment plans to deal with school issues, support recovery, and manage changes in behavior or adjustment
- referrals to appropriate educational, rehabilitation, behavioral health, and other medical specialists

Insurance benefits and referrals
Some insurance companies require a referral from a primary care provider before appointments can be arranged. Once a referral is in place, most insurance companies will cover specialty care visits for patients with concussions.
