Surgeons Participate in Research
Children's Hospital Colorado surgeons participate in a variety of basic and clinical research projects. Current research topics include:
- trauma studies that investigate the age-dependent response to injury
- vesicoureteral reflux
- the developmental biology of the genitourinary system
- a study of ear drop use for the treatment of acute otitis media
- Aristotle complexity scoring to identify outcome results in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery
- clinical outcome studies of the operative therapy of gastroesophageal reflux
- clinical outcomes studies of routine and more complex scoliosis spine surgery
- genetic studies of the cause of scoliosis
Children's Hospital Colorado has been selected as one of nine clinical centers to study the cause and treatment of biliary atresia and other newborn liver diseases. The Biliary Atresia Clinical Research Consortium received an initial five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the study.
