The Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children's Hospital Colorado was established thanks to a generous gift from the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation. The clinic officially opened its doors in November 2010 as part of the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

What makes our program unique?
Our team of providers has more than 80 years of combined experience in caring for children with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities. We have some of the top pediatric specialists in the nation who are actively involved with teaching at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, which in 2013 was ranked in the top 10 nationally by U.S. News & World Report. At Children’s Hospital Colorado we collaborate with premier pediatric sub-specialists in the country to improve the care of children with Down syndrome and develop state-of-the-art research.

Services offered for children with Down syndrome
At the Sie Center, our services include evaluation, consultation and therapies for infants, children, teens and young adults with Down syndrome. We see patients from the prenatal phase of life, up to age 21. By coordinating our care with other clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado, we have an entire team of pediatric specialists working together to provide the best possible care for your child.

What to expect for your visit
Prior to your first appointment, we will contact you to review your child’s and family’s needs. When you come to the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children’s Colorado, our multidisciplinary team will meet with your family and child. A developmental pediatrician or pediatric nurse practitioner along with therapists which may include physical therapist, speech therapist, feeding therapist, occupational therapist and social worker that will work together to assess your child. A registered dietitian is also available for consultation at certain appointments. Meet the team at the Sie Center.
At the conclusion of the visit, your family will receive appropriate and up-to-date information, as well as resources and recommendations to optimize your child’s development and medical care. We will also share this information with your child’s primary care doctor.
Lastly, we’ll arrange periodic follow-up appointments based on your child’s needs and your parental concerns. To help make your visit to Children’s as convenient as possible, we will try to coordinate combination appointments with other sub-specialists during the same visit or over a period of a few days.
