What is The Psychiatry Consultation/Liaison Service?

The Psychiatry Consultation/Liaison Service (Psych C/L) provides consultation, assessment to all medical services at Children's Hospital Colorado, including all inpatient medical units. When appropriate, the Psych C/L team may recommend or provide psychiatric treatment (such as pharmacotherapy or psychotherapy)or recommend and help coordinate admission to Psychiatric Inpatient, Medical Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Specialty Programs.

Children's Colorado’s Psych C/L service is directed by an American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certified psychiatrist (in both adult and child/adolescent psychiatry) and PhD level Psychologists, all of whom specialize in treatment of medically ill children and adolescents with co-occurring psychiatric illness and/or psychiatric manifestations of medical illness and its treatments.

Our service operates full time during the week and is backed up by on-call psychiatrists and the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) for 24 hour specialized child and adolescent psychiatric care.
