Overview and Target Audience

The Eliza Fernie Pediatric Critical Care Symposium is designed to enhance the knowledge of nurses, respiratory therapists, pre-hospital providers and other healthcare professionals regarding trends and innovations in neonatal, cardiac and pediatric critical care.

An expert faculty will present the latest evidence-based care for a broad range of critical care topics including fetal cardiac intervention, treatment strategies for patients with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, ventilation strategies and clinical interpretation, medical and psychosocial complexities of abusive head trauma, critical event management training, ex utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT) procedures and other fetal interventions, mass casualty incidents and care transition.  Early indicators/risk factors for ethical issues in clinical practice and early screening/interventions in ethically difficult situations will be presented by Katherine Brown-Saltzman, MA RN, a nationally-recognized nurse ethicist.
