Couple Aims to Help Families During Child Abuse Awareness Month

In honor of April's Child Abuse Prevention Awareness month, Channel 9 profiled Dennis and Patricia Woodward whose grandchild was abused by a family friend. The story also focuses on The Kempe Child Protection Team, a team of professionals who work with Children's Hospital Colorado to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect. Dr. Andy Sirotnak, medical director of Kempe, discusses the process the team follows to help families whose children have suffered abuse.
"We walk that journey with them. And part of that walk is finding out what they need, finding out what led to this, and finding out how to make this situation better, and to heal that child," said Sirotnak.
