Jan. 17, 2008

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a public health advisory to warn parents against giving over-the-counter cough and cold medicines to children under age two.  It was found that those drugs do not work in children so young and may have harmful side effects.

Dr. Harley Rotbart, infectious disease practitioner at Children's Hospital Colorado, was interviewed as saying, "If medicines don't work, any side effects they cause, even if they're rare and even if they're relatively mild, aren't worth it."
