One Baby Lost, Thousands Saved

Emergency Care Training And Equipment

Channel 7

Corinne and Dan McMurray started the R Baby Foundation after their daughter, Rhiannon, went into cardiac arrest at her pediatrician's office and tragically passed away at just 9 days old. Because of Rhiannon, improving pediatric emergency care has become the McMurray’s life mission

The R Baby Foundation will use money raised to equip emergency rooms and train paramedics to help babies breathe in emergency situations, in hopes that fewer parents will have to experience the pain of losing a child.

"The most common reason a child gets into trouble is because of respiratory problems; they can't breathe," said Dr. Joan Bothner, chief medical officer at Children's Hospital Colorado. "To have all this equipment at your fingertips and know how to use it is very critical for some of the life saving things that we need to do for kids," she said.

The R Baby Foundation will also develop a statewide 24-hour communication network allowing doctors anywhere to contact doctors at Children's Hospital Colorado with emergency questions any time of day.
