Vaccinations can save kids' lives

A Northern Colorado family physician, John Bender, MD, wrote an opinion piece for The Coloradoan on how vaccines can save kids’ lives. Heartbroken by the number of deaths in children caused by influenza in early 2009, Dr. Bender advocates for the vaccination of children and their loved ones as a way to protect children from potentially fatal diseases.
Dr. Bender references Children's Hospital Colorado's 2007 report on Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in Colorado 's Children:
“The introduction of vaccines in Colorado has had a dramatic effect on reducing communicable diseases… if vaccines were not routinely used, Colorado could expect more than 70,000 cases of these infections in children per year.”
