Children's Reunites Former NICU Patients

Children's Hospital Colorado Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Reunion is a chance for former patients and their families to reconnect with other NICU families and staff members who cared for their children. This event celebrates the strength and accomplishments of former patients of the NICU in a fun and supportive setting. This year's reunion was for 2005-2007 NICU graduates.
Among this year's attendees was 3-year-old Lucy Johnson, who spent 5 months in the NICU after being born with a rare lung disease.
“It took her a minute to realize we weren't here for an appointment," said Lucy's mother, Marlena Johnson. "It's great to see all the other children and how they've grown and just to celebrate is wonderful."
Families and staff enjoyed face-painting, cupcakes, crafts and a slide show featuring “then and now” photos of the patients.
