Give Your Word to Never Shake a Baby

9News

Jack Koller was one of 1,200 babies and toddlers who became a victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) in just one year in the U.S. Jack did not live to see his first birthday, because of injuries he suffered from SBS. Jack's grandmother, Claudia Riggs, is working to spread the word about SBS and encourage caregivers to have a plan for when their baby won't stop crying.

Watch a video from 9News about Jack's story and learn what you can do to prevent SBS.

Preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome is a cause that is near and dear to Children's Hospital Colorado. Children's asks that all caregivers have a plan in place for the times when a baby is crying. Plan ahead for how you will calm the baby down and how you will calm yourself down. It's okay to put the baby in a safe place, like a crib, and walk away until you calm down. It's also important to have this conversation with your babysitter, your family, your neighbors, or anyone who may be watching your child.

Be one of many to give their word to never shake a baby.
