Sie Center Helping Down Syndrome Kids Live to Their Potential

The Villager

The Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children's Hospital Colorado has helped hundreds of families in Colorado and other states realize their child’s potential at what has become the most comprehensive Down syndrome treatment facility in the Rocky Mountain region.

“She goes to a school with typical kids," said Michelle Sie Whitten of her 8-year-old daughter. "She is in the typical classroom. She is expected to do reading and writing and math and everything else the other kids are doing – and behave herself.”

Whitten says the Sie Center, in concert with family support, new medical treatments, educational opportunities and a growing social acceptance, will help her daughter be one in a growing number of Down syndrome patients to live rich and fulfilling lives.
