What 's the Difference Between Organic and Non-organic Food for Your Family?
Aurora Sentinel
Did you know that "organic" food is not always better or healthier for your family?
In a recent report released by the American Academy of Pediatrics, experts said parents who want to reduce their kids' exposure to pesticides can seek out organic fruits and vegetables, but they aren't necessarily proven to be safer or more nutritious than other foods.
Dr. Nancy F. Krebs, medical director for clinical nutrition at Children's Hospital Colorado, said she was glad to see the report was far-reaching but agreed that the topic needs more study.
"If you pass it off and say, 'Well they are nutritionally equal,' that's only part of the story and we need to get a better handle on what might be some unexpected or unintended consequences," she said.
