Children's Rallies Around Jake Snakenberg Youth Concussion Act
Children's Hospital Colorado has been actively supporting Senate Bill 40 (SB-40), the Jake Snakenberg Youth Concussion Act, which will require coaches of youth athletic activities to complete annual concussion recognition education. Further, if the coach suspects an athlete from ages 11-18 has sustained a concussion, the coach must immediately remove the athlete from play, and the athlete cannot return to practice or play until evaluated by a health care provider and cleared to return.

The bill that was introduced into the Senate on Feb. 10, 2011, is named after Jake Snakenberg, a 14-year-old high school football player from Grandview who died after he suffered a concussion.
