Deer Creek Shooting Victim Well on His Way to Complete Recovery
The Denver Post
Matthew Thieu, 14, was almost back to his normal self - joking and laughing - just days after being critically wounded in a shooting outside of Deer Creek Middle School.
Matthew said he never saw the man who shot him. He remembers coming out of school, hearing a pop and seeing kids running in all directions.
"I grabbed my skateboard and my book" and took off too, he said. "Then I got shot."
Thieu was transferred from Littleton Adventist Hospital to Children's Hospital Colorado main campus where he spent the remainder of his hospital stay.
Seeing her son so much improved "is a blessing," said Pattie Theiu, Matthew's mother. She offered up some advice to all parents; "Hug your children and cherish them. And say 'I love you' every single day."
