Weight Management Patients Create Post Cards as Healthy Reminders
The Weight Management Program at Children's Hospital Colorado treats children and teens who are overweight or obese by providing individualized treatment plans for children and their families. Weight Management has several different clinics available to meet the different needs of overweight children.
Recently, children from the Weight Management Program got the chance to participate in an art project to get them involved in recalling the healthy lifestyle lessons they’ve learned. Patients from two age groups (6-9 and 10+) were asked to draw and color a healthy message during a clinic visit or exercise class.
The patient picture messages were entered into a contest where the winner would have their drawing made into a post card that would be sent to all the Weight Management patients as a reminder to lead a healthy lifestyle and/or to remind them of a follow-up appointment.
Winners were announced during exercise class at the Weight Management Clinic, while the children enjoyed healthy snacks. The first place winner from each age group received family 4 packs for Nuggets games; second and third runners up also got a prize.
