A Letter from the Medical Board President

Dear Colleagues,

Summer is in full swing and those surges of asthma and outdoor related injuries are arriving in your practices and through our doors at Children's Hospital Colorado and Network of Care.

This spring, we held our Annual Meeting of Children's Hospital Colorado Association. On April 29, I was proud to present the report of the medical staff at our annual meeting and to celebrate the accomplishments, awards and another outstanding year of work of our physicians and allied health professionals. The theme for this year's publication was 'Wonder, explore, discover,' with a focus on the amazing things that happen at Children's every day - and how appropriate for children as we think about the joys of summertime. Please take a look at this beautiful report available on our website.

I am happy to also report that our Physician Relations Advisory Board, which replaces the old Physician Relations Council, is starting to meet. This group will bring together Children's Hospital medical and administrative leadership with our community physician partners on a bi-monthly basis to address feedback, affect change and strengthen our clinical partnership. As our medical staff and hospital have grown, so must our commitments to excellence in service to and communication with our community. We have objective benchmarks and goals derived from our referring physician and faculty surveys to guide us here and I look forward to working on this advisory board.

Another exciting milestone to share with you is Children's East Tower Expansion project that broke ground in late July; the new East Tower expansion will add 124 new beds to our main campus. Rapid growth at the hospital has necessitated this expansion several years sooner than was originally planned for.

My best wishes for some relaxing time in the last days of summer for yourselves and your families.
