Biography & Interests

Care Philosophy

My philosophy for patient care is to first listen to the patient's concerns and needs. Then, I assess the patient's condition in order to explain my evaluation and offer my recommendations. I believe it is important to make sure the patient and family understand that information as well as possible to enable us all to make the plan of care together, as a team.

Clinical Interests

My clinical interests are in cancers and tumors in children, adolescents, and adults. Specifically kidney tumors (Wilms Tumor, Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC), Angiomyolipomas(AML)), Testicular and Para-testicular tumors, and Pelvic Tumors (Rhabdomyosarcomas). This additionally includes patients with tumor predisposition syndromes such as von Hippel Lindau, Tuberous Sclerosis, and Birt-Hogg-Dube. My training in both urologic oncology and pediatric urology has prepared me to care for these patients of all ages and can see them either through Children's Hospital Colorado or through the University Hospital. I also am interested in the use of minimally invasive surgery (robotic-assisted laparoscopy, laparoscopy, single-site laparoscopy, and endoscopy) for all variety of urologic conditions. Within other areas of Pediatric Urology, I am interested in Ureteropelvic junction obstruction, Vesicoureteral reflux, and Urolithiasis (kidney stones).

Research Interests

My Research Interests include: (1) Clinical trials for children, adolescents, and young adults with urologic tumors and cancers, specifically surgical and long-term outcomes in this population. (2) Understanding the background science, genetics, and developing new therapies in Wilms tumor, Renal Cell Carcinoma and Testicular Tumors.
