Children's Hospital Colorado Outpatient Laboratory
Adjacent to Boettcher Atrium on the first floor, our Outpatient Laboratory provides a wide range of diagnostic and research tests. In addition to blood draws, the laboratory offers sweat testing for our cystic fibrosis patients and glucose tolerance tests for our patients with diabetes. The lab is open during normal office hours.
Helping Kids Heal
Children's Hospital Colorado has designed its lab services around children. Everything, from the waiting room to the staff to the equipment used, is centered on kids. The staff has extensive training in pediatrics and speaks to children, and their parents, in language they understand. This pediatric focus allows our staff to minimize the upset a child might experience by having blood drawn in an adult facility.
The laboratory uses technology to get results from the smallest size sample of blood. We use special "butterfly" needles which are the smallest needles available so procedures are not painful.
