Children's Hospital Colorado Ponzio Surgery Center
Located on the second floor just to the right of the main elevators, the Ponzio Surgery Center includes 14 state-of-the-art operating rooms and many features designed to reduce stress and increase comfort for both patients and their families. Prior to surgery, the play area allows kids to relax with arts and craft activities, games, books, computers and a TV. Families can escort their child into the operating suite and then greet him/her in recovery. A lactation room is connected to the waiting area for nursing mothers.

Helping Kids Heal
The colors and design are based on scientific research about how colors and images from nature help kids heal faster. A tranquil palette of blues, greens and purples is used with soft geometric shapes and curves to help reduce anxiety and provide a calming environment. The quiet rubber flooring is adorned with an oversized flower pattern and serves as a guide for patients and families. Giant flowers identify each centralized nurse station and flowing vines meander through the corridors and into patient rooms. Designs reflecting the Colorado landscape decorate the glass doors of each admission and discharge room.
