Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute (KPTI)

Kids and traumatic injuries are a frightening combination. But it happens every day. Falls. Car crashes. Burns. Head injuries. To prevent these types of injuries in children, and to increase the odds of survival for those who are traumatically injured, two organizations -- Children's Hospital Colorado and Rocky Mountain Kiwanis District -- have joined in partnership to create the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute (KPTI), for injury research, prevention and outreach education.

KPTI, located at Children's Hospital Colorado, draws on the expertise found at Children's, the only hospital in the Rocky Mountain region solely dedicated to the care of children. KPTI reaches out to educate medical professionals, families and communities throughout Colorado, Wyoming and western Nebraska.

KPTI is dedicated to:

  • Preventing traumatic injury through research and education

  • Promoting product safety education through community outreach programs

  • Providing specialized training for pediatric emergency caregivers
