What You Need to Know About H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu)
H1N1 flu (swine flu) is a viral respiratory infection with symptoms similar to the seasonal flu. This virus was first detected in people in the U.S. in April 2009 and created the first global outbreak of disease caused by a new flu virus in more than 40 years. Although the H1N1 pandemic has been declared over, it is likely that the HIN1 virus will continue to circulate. The 2011-2012 flu vaccine will protect against H1N1 and two other different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, and influenza B.
