Children's Hospital Colorado has been named one of the top workplaces in the state among large companies by The Denver Post in their annual ranking of Colorado employers. Further, Children's Colorado was one of only four nonprofit organizations to appear on the list of top-ranked, large companies (defined as those employing more than 500 local workers).
The results were published in a special pullout section on Sunday, April 13, and were obtained by surveying more than 56,000 Colorado employees who ranked workplaces on everything from company values and leadership, to training and work/life balance.
The most important factor among employees surveyed was the connection a person felt to their job, including feeling appreciated and feeling that their work is meaningful. Children's Colorado scored high in both of these areas with employees commenting that they can "make a difference in the lives of children and families."
Close to 2,000 Children's Colorado employees participated in the survey, which was conducted by the newspaper in December 2013. The survey was expanded this year to include employees from across the state, rather than just those in the Denver metro area as in past years. This is the second year in a row Children's Colorado has earned a spot on the coveted list.
