This was a banner year at Children’s Hospital Colorado, including being ranked a top 5 children’s hospital by U.S. News & World Report, naming a new CEO and announcing our plans for a new hospital in Colorado Springs – just to name a few highlights.
But in addition to marking major milestones and helping serve kids across a seven-state region, we had a LOT of fun. Check out our 10 favorite videos from 2015:
Country music artist Garth Brooks stopped by in March to spend time with our precious patients. Garth’s Teammates for Kids Foundation also made a major gift to benefit our Child Life program and renovate the Teen Lounge.
In June, we celebrated Seacrest Studios' first birthday at Children's Colorado. The studio was hopping with visits from storm troopers, princesses and most importantly, our amazing patients.
Nothing brightens up a day in the hospital like superheroes out your window! In August, Batman, Robin, Spider-Man, Captain America and Wolverine (all real-life heroes from the Aurora Police Department SWAT) rappelled from our rooftop to surprise patients.
We kicked off the 2015 football season in September with a Denver Broncos spirit talent competition. Team members showed off their skills by singing, dancing, hula hooping, cooking and reading poetry for a chance to win tickets and the “biggest Broncos fan” title.
5.) We celebrated 25 years of transplants and baby Juniper’s new heart
Last year, baby Juniper received a life-saving heart transplant at our hospital. Since then, she’s experienced countless milestones including her first airplane ride, beach and birthday party. In September, Juniper’s parents created a heartfelt video thanking the donor family – and we all celebrated Juniper’s new heart and 25 years of changing lives through our Transplant Program.
In October, hundreds of team members, patients and families filled our atrium to celebrate our 2015 Quest for Quality Prize and U.S. News & World Report rankings. See highlights from the Oscar-worthy awards event.
7.) We put on our dancing shoes for Halloween
To make Halloween a little happier for all the kids in the hospital, our team members performed a surprise flash mob in the atrium. Watch us shake it off!
In November, the Colorado Ballet danced through the hospital and performed for our patients.
For Thanksgiving, one mom wrote a song about “a few of her favorite things” at Children's Colorado. Join us in giving thanks as we reflect on 2015 and look forward to a happy, healthy New Year!
On a chilly morning in December, more than 200 law enforcement officers arrived at our hospital in a motorcade. They brought hundreds of new toys for patients as part of Cops Fighting Cancer’s 13th Annual “Long Blue Line.”
