Guatemala Clinic Is Expanding Rapidly and Changing Lives, with Help from Children's Colorado

The Center for Human Development (CHD) operated by the Center for Global Health at the Colorado School of Public Health and Children’s Hospital Colorado sits on a banana plantation in rural Guatemala.

With funding from Children’s Colorado, the Center for Global Health has been able to assemble a modern, well-equipped clinic with medical professionals from a variety of disciplines working to bring quality health care to some of the poorest people on earth.

“If it were easy, we wouldn’t need to be there,” said Stephen Berman, MD, director of the Center for Global Health. “If you look back to when we started with an open field and see what we’ve accomplished, it’s really quite impressive.”
