Children's Hospital Colorado Named 2015 Most Wired by Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine
Children's Hospital Colorado | July 10, 2015
Children's Hospital Colorado has been named a 2015 "Most Wired" hospital by Hospitals and Health Networks (H&HN) magazine. The award recognizes hospitals and health systems for having excellent IT capabilities in a variety of areas such as the routine use of electronic health systems and digital clinical imaging. This is the third year in a row Children's Colorado has received the accolade.
Advancing patient care through the power of technology
There were 741 survey participants submitted this year, representing more than 2,213 hospitals, or 39% of all U.S. hospitals. The survey examined how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety and clinical integration.
“The Most Wired award is an important industry benchmark, a ‘gold standard’ not easily obtained, that measures how well we’re performing in key technology domains. It not only recognizes the great work our teams are doing on a daily basis, but it helps us stay focused on the most impactful and strategic emerging technologies,” said Mary Anne Leach, senior vice president and chief information officer at Children’s Colorado. “It’s also a great reflection on the entire hospital, our providers, nurses and staff – with whom we partner every day – to ensure we’re delivering value from our technology investments, supporting our research endeavors, and continually improving the care we provide to our patients and families.”
This year’s survey found that Most Wired hospitals are:
Taking more aggressive privacy and security measures to protect and safeguard patient data;
Integrating to more value-based care instead of volume-based;
Utilizing IT to better facilitate information exchange and creating better alignment between hospitals and physicians; and
Actively engaging patients in their health and healthcare through electronic patient portals.
Detailed results of the survey and study can be found in the July issue of H&HN. For a full list of winners visit www.hhnmag.com.
