CNN’s investigation gave Children's Hospital Colorado's Heart Institute the highest possible marks for transparency.

Children's Hospital Colorado is proud to be one of only three hospitals nationwide that earned the highest marks in a recent CNNreport. The report looked at the transparency of hospitals' pediatric heart programs, with an emphasis on pediatric heart surgeries. Of the six categories evaluated, Children's Colorado demonstrated complete transparency in every area.

Heart Institute receives highest marks for transparency

According to CNN and the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association, advocates for healthcare safety agree that hospitals that operate on babies' hearts should keep no secrets about the success of their operations.

"Our focus at the Heart Institute is to provide quality outcomes, patient safety and the best possible care to those we serve," said Dr. Dunbar Ivy, chief of pediatric cardiology at Children's Colorado. "We must be transparent in our outcomes so that parents can make informed decisions about their child's care -- and I am proud to be part of a department and hospital that adheres to this level of openness and accountability."
