Kathie Seerup Advances to Senior VP, Southern Region Chief Nursing and Operations Officer

Children's Hospital Colorado | June 27, 2022

Kathie Seerup was promoted to a new role as Senior Vice President and Southern Region Chief Nursing and Operations Officer. Kathie has more than 30 years of pediatric nursing experience and has spent her entire career dedicated to caring for kids and their families. Her passion for pediatric and family-centered care, humble leadership, and unwavering dedication and support to her team have made her an indispensable part of the leadership team.

Adds duties as Chief Operations Officer to existing Chief Nursing role

“Since she started with us in 2020, Kathie Seerup has proven to be an inspirational leader for our team members and a trusted partner to myself and other leaders across the system. I am honored to share that she assumed the position of Senior Vice President and expands her former position of Southern Region Chief Nursing Officer to Chief Nursing and Operations Officer” said Greg Raymond, Southern Region President.

Committed to mentorship, development and advocacy

Kathie is committed to developing and mentoring career nurses for generations to come, and she is passionate about advocating for patients and families — especially in pediatric settings. “I was inspired to go into nursing after experiences from within my own family made me realize that we could do better. It became my life’s passion to take care of not just the patient but their entire family. And I want to share my experiences and knowledge with my peers and the next generation of nurses. That is what I want for my legacy – to do right by just one patient directly or indirectly through others” said Kathie Seerup.

Prime example of Children’s Colorado’s commitment to development and promotion from within

In this position, she will be responsible for the operations of our 115-bed Colorado Springs hospital. She will continue her role as Chief Nursing Officer and will be supported by Arnold Butiu, who assumed the role of Vice President and Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Children Colorado’s Southern Region on May 16, 2022. Additionally, she will continue to partner with Pat Givens, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive, by leading system-wide initiatives in the Division of Patient Care Services.

Prior to her current position, she served as the Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, and she worked for 22 years at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Kathie holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lewis University and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of St. Francis. She is a board-certified nurse executive.
