Amy Feldman, MD, PhD, was named Society of Pediatric Liver Transplantation (SPLIT) President-Elect for 2024 to 2026. She was elected by a group of her peers after over 10 years as a member of SPLIT. Dr. Feldman has authored 11 SPLIT papers, led SPLIT national conferences and served as the chair of SPLIT’s education committee. She currently serves as Medical Director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program and the Fellowship Director of the Advanced Hepatology-Liver Transplant Fellowship at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
“I am so honored to be chosen to serve as President-Elect of SPLIT, a society focused on improving outcomes in pediatric liver transplantation. I look forward to helping lead initiatives to ensure that every child across the United States has equal access to living donor liver transplant so that no child or family experiences waitlist mortality,” says Dr. Feldman. “Children’s Hospital Colorado, along with other living donor programs across the country, has demonstrated that living donor liver transplant is associated with shorter waitlist time, decreased waitlist morbidity and mortality, and improved patient and graft survival.”
Earlier this year, Dr. Feldman received a $100,000 grant to pursue research to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of pediatric living donor liver transplant. The grant was awarded by the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) Foundation. Children’s Colorado is one of a handful of centers with surgeons experienced in living donor liver transplants, performing at least half of their transplants each year with living donors.
