A legacy of excellence in pediatric pulmonology
We are excited to announce the upcoming 34th Pediatric Pulmonary Cotton Conference, hosted by Children's Hospital Colorado. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Keystone, CO, from March 7 to 9, 2024, this international conference is a cornerstone event for professionals in pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine. Named after the founder of our fellowship program, Ernie Cotton, a pioneer in pediatric pulmonary medicine, the Cotton Conference has grown into one of the oldest and most respected gatherings in the United States. For over three decades, this event has been a hub for advancing the field, showcasing cutting-edge research and fostering the next generation of pediatric pulmonologists.
Building on a rich history in pediatric pulmonology
The Section of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children’s Colorado is renowned for its comprehensive training program. With over 75 pediatric pulmonologists trained, our alumni have become leaders in the field, including cystic fibrosis center directors, academic program directors and even deans. The annual Cotton Conference is a testament to our commitment to excellence, providing a platform for fellows, faculty and distinguished guests to share insights, research and advancements in pediatric pulmonology.

This year's Cotton Conference focus
Led by event chair Stacey Martiniano, MD, the Cotton Conference aims to address the evolving challenges in pediatric pulmonary medicine by spotlighting advances in the diagnosis, monitoring and medical management of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, asthma and sleep disorders, as well as advances in basic and translational science, education and health equity. Over three days, attendees will engage in didactic lectures, case-based discussions and networking opportunities — all designed to enhance clinical performance and advocate for patient care.
“Perhaps the most impactful lectures were the ones about diversity and inclusion and the history of disparities in medicine. These lectures provided insight into how disparities influence our current care and how management may be different for various people.”
