Overview and Target Audience

This course is recommended for nurses desiring to take the Pediatric CCRN examination offered by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). CCRN certification denotes to the public those practitioners who possess a distinct and clearly defined body of knowledge in pediatric critical care nursing (visit www.aacn.org; click on certification, then CCRN). Participants who take the Preparation Course are better prepared to pass the certification exam. The test is open to nurses practicing in pediatrics, pediatric intensive care and pediatric emergency care. The examination covers a broad area of practice and content is based on the Synergy Model. The examination is administered by the AACN who issues the CCRN certification to nurses that pass the exam. At the end of the offering, participants will be able to incorporate knowledge regarding pathophysiology, nursing assessment, care interventions, and critical thinking skills to successfully pass the pediatric CCRN certification.
