Children's Hospital Colorado Partners with the Denver Broncos to Brighten Patients' Lives

The Denver Broncos are heroes for our patients on and off the field. As partners of the Denver Broncos for a decade, Children’s Colorado collaborates on year-round community initiatives and provides unique experiences to our patients and their families. From unexpected friendships formed during hospital visits, to patient-led interviews at the Broncos Headquarters, this partnership is about bringing smiles, cheer and inspiration to our community.

Denver Broncos players visit Children’s Hospital Colorado

Throughout the year, players for the Denver Broncos come to Children’s Colorado to spend time with patients and families and spread game-winning cheer throughout the hospital. For many of our patients, meeting their sports heroes provides an escape from the stress and anxiety that treatment can bring. These visits go far beyond a simple photo or autograph — players often play games, read stories and sometimes bring a football to get in a game of catch.

Broncos game-day experiences for Children’s Colorado patients

Our patients love to attend Denver Broncos games and often get to participate in activities around the stadium. A new favorite is the “Kickoff Kid,” which involves a Children’s Colorado patient or team member’s child retrieving the tee after kickoff. Not only are they running on the field during the game, but they’re recognized on the scoreboard in front of the whole stadium.

Some opportunities can even get patients in the game. Below, Myles, a high school football player and cancer survivor, put on a pair of headphones and helped call plays alongside the Broncos.

Children’s Colorado Junior Reporters for the Denver Broncos

Along with player visits and game-day experiences, some of our patients also have the special opportunity to be a Junior Reporter for the Broncos. Junior reporters interview a Broncos player on anything they want to know — from the players' football career and their popular plays, to their extensive gameday rituals and favorite things. For some, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our patients to meet their favorite Bronco and share their experience.

Whether it’s on the field or in our hospital, our partnership with the Denver Broncos continues to create life-changing experiences for kids and educates the community on pediatric health. As the only pediatric hospital to have a patch on a professional sports team practice jersey, we hope when you see the Broncos, you think of Children’s Hospital Colorado.
