Ophthalmology programs and clinics
Our eye specialists host multiple programs and clinics to address specific conditions using a multidisciplinary approach. By collaborating with different specialists across the hospital, we can create a comprehensive treatment plan for children with conditions affecting their vision. Bringing multiple specialists together with these programs allows our patients and families to see all the experts they need at the same time and in one place, reducing the number of appointments and time needed to get the best care.
Low Vision Clinic
Our Low Vision Clinic focuses on children with visual differences that can’t be treated or reversed by other means. In this clinic, we work with kids with different levels of vision impairment to improve their quality of life. This can mean working with children that have eye conditions directly affecting their sight or children who have damage to areas of the brain that affects their vision, such as cortical visual impairment. In this clinic, the goal is to maximize visual function and quality of life through optical and non-optical strategies, from glasses to assistive devices.
Pediatric Cornea Clinic
In our Pediatric Cornea Clinic, we offer diagnosis and treatment for children with corneal diseases and disorders. This can include a range of conditions, including astigmatism, keratoconus, pterygium and eye injuries. Treatments can include contacts, glasses, surgery and more.
Retinoblastoma Program
Our Retinoblastoma Program is a collaborative program between our ophthalmology team and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Our multidisciplinary team provides current treatment options all under one roof, using the most advanced equipment and treatment protocols. Together, our team adapts treatment for each patient to provide the highest quality care.
Pediatric Uveitis Clinic
Our Uveitis Clinic is a collaborative clinic between our ophthalmology team and our Rheumatology Program. Our uveitis experts have extensive experience treating patients with pediatric uveitis together. This collaborative approach combines the care of two specialists in a single visit to make it easier and more efficient for the family and ensures that your child receives optimal uveitis and comprehensive pediatric eye care.
Pediatric Ocular Genetics Clinic
Our Ocular Genetics Clinic brings together clinicians from the Clinical Genetics and Inherited Metabolic Diseases Program, including geneticists and genetic counselors, with pediatric retina specialists and ophthalmologists. This multidisciplinary clinic enables patients seeking a genetic diagnosis for their eye condition to receive comprehensive and specialist eye care in the same setting. In this setting, our experts can also provide answers to questions about genetic testing, clinical trials and the most innovative treatments available.
Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinic
We’re home to one of the few pediatric neuro-ophthalmology clinics in the country. Patients with conditions such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, optic neuritis and neurologic cancers can receive expert care from experienced neuro-ophthalmologists and neurology providers. Our advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities mean that testing can be done in-house, often on the same day your child is seen in the eye clinic for their appointment.
Pediatric Glaucoma Clinic
Children with glaucoma need long-term care and often require surgical interventions in addition to life-long medications to manage their condition. The compassionate providers at our Pediatric Glaucoma Clinic include experienced pediatric ophthalmologists and glaucoma surgeons who can provide multimodal glaucoma care for your child.
Pediatric Retina Clinic
Pediatric retinal conditions, including retinopathy of prematurity, sickle cell retinopathy, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) and traumatic damage to the retina are managed by our experienced team of pediatric vitreoretinal surgeons. These providers see patients in clinic and perform the complex interventions and surgeries needed to maximize retinal health.
Pediatric Oculoplastic Clinic
Oculoplastic specialists are experts in diseases of the eyelids and orbit (eye socket). If your child has a droopy eyelid requiring surgery, needs eyelid reconstruction after an injury or has complex problems with tearing, our oculoplastic specialists provide high quality clinical and surgical care.
Adult and Complex Strabismus Clinic
We provide expert care for adults with strabismus (eye misalignment) from prescribing prism glasses to performing strabismus surgery.
We also see patients who have challenging forms of strabismus in our Complex Strabismus Clinic, including those who have undergone prior surgeries or are otherwise medically complex. In this clinic, you or your child will see multiple strabismus surgeons in the same visit that provide several opinions about the best course of action to correct the problem.
