At our Dravet Syndrome Clinic, we care for children and adults who have Dravet syndrome. Neurogenetic disorders like Dravet syndrome are conditions caused by changes in genes and chromosomes that affect the brain, nerves and muscles.

Although these conditions have genetic causes, not all of them are inherited (passed down) in families. Signs of neurogenetic disorders may appear at birth or later in life.

Why choose us for Dravet syndrome care?

We offer the only pediatric clinic for Dravet syndrome in the Rocky Mountain region. Our team has extensive experience using the latest research and technologies for treating Dravet syndrome and related conditions. Our experts have both advanced training and a compassionate approach to help children and their families live with Dravet syndrome.

We offer eligible children the opportunity to participate in research and clinical trials that work to improve diagnosis and treatments. In our clinic, your child can receive the latest, most advanced tests and treatments that aren’t widely available.

About our multidisciplinary Dravet syndrome treatment

Our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to treat Dravet syndrome in children and adults. Our team includes neurologists, rehabilitation, specialized pediatricians, sleep medicine specialists, neuropsychologists, as well as occupational, physical and speech therapists. Since every child experiences Dravet syndrome differently, these specialists work together to create an individualized care plan for each child. We support children, adults and their families with medical care, counseling and education to help provide the best possible quality of life for your family.

Who we treat at the Dravet Syndrome Clinic

We treat children and adults with Dravet syndrome and provide individualized care specific to your child’s needs.

Your visit to the Dravet Syndrome Clinic

Before your visit, our team reviews your child’s health records including those from neurology, developmental pediatrics, genetics and imaging. When your family arrives, our doctors meet with you and your child to do a physical exam, discuss more details and answer your questions. Based on your child’s medical history and physical exam, we’ll recommend next steps, which may include more testing or a personalized treatment plan.

We’ll make sure your child gets exactly the care and expertise for their unique needs.

What happens after a visit to the Dravet Syndrome Clinic?

After your visit:

  • Our providers will send you and your child’s primary care provider a letter with detailed recommendations for additional tests and treatment.
  • We provide support for your family and help you find resources in the community.
  • We aim to see patients in our clinic every one to two years to re-evaluate and provide updated recommendations.
