Children's Hospital Colorado

We understand that skeletal dysplasia affects many areas of a child and family’s life. Our experienced team helps improve all those areas.

About the Skeletal Dysplasia Program

At Children’s Hospital Colorado, we provide comprehensive care with a multidisciplinary approach for kids with conditions that cause skeletal dysplasia. Because skeletal dysplasia can often be complex and affects different parts of the body, our team includes experts from a variety of pediatric specialties such as orthopedics, rehabilitation, genetics, ear, nose and throat, neurology, breathing and cardiology.

As a part of the multidisciplinary approach, we plan your visit so your child gets all the care and sees all the specialists they need in one place, and if possible, in one day.

We will create a care plan for your child based on their condition and needs. Our skeletal dysplasia services may include:

Why choose us for skeletal dysplasia care

As the first comprehensive skeletal dysplasia program in the Rocky Mountain region, we provide the most inclusive care for children with these rare conditions. We’re here to ensure children with skeletal dysplasia are thriving and meeting their milestones. We set the standard for skeletal dysplasia care, providing advanced testing, therapies and innovative treatments tailored to meet each child’s specific needs.

From before birth and into adulthood, we diagnose, treat and provide resources to families for their individual care journey. We are fully integrated with our Colorado Fetal Care Center that can diagnose your child’s condition before birth and allows our care team to be a part of treatment from day one.

Our care spans well beyond our four walls with a mission to create community and bring families with skeletal dysplasia together. We actively collaborate with organizations that support the research, education and awareness of these conditions including Little People of America, National MPS Society, Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation and CCD Smiles. We're also designated as a Rare Disease Center of Excellence by the National Designation of Rare Disorders. This recognition means we have all the specialists and experience to treat rare diseases at the highest level and connects us with similar organizations across the country.

Through these partnerships, our specialists conduct research to better understand conditions such as osteogenesis imperfecta and achondroplasia, foster clinical trials and search for better treatment options. This all helps us bring the best care and resources to your family, faster.
