The spine team at Children’s Colorado knows that spine surgery can feel scary and overwhelming, so we created a special class to help kids prepare. Patients and families attend a Spine Class one to two months before surgery. When you come to Class you’ll find out what to expect before, during and after spine surgery.
When and where is Spine Class held?
Spine Class is held at Children’s Colorado on Anschutz Medical Campus in the conference center. Class usually takes place on the first Thursday of every month from 1:15 to 4 p.m.
Who can come to Spine Class?
Spine Class is designed for healthy older school-age children, teens and young adults. Younger children and special needs children will also get pre-operative teaching and a tour, but in a “one-on-one” setting.
Who can come with me?
Patients can bring anyone they’d like to Spine Class. Most patients bring their parents or guardian. Grandparents and older brothers and sisters can also attend.
