Our pediatric gynecologists care for girls of all ages and treat a range of conditions. We use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that is sensitive to the psychological and emotional needs of our patients and their families. We know that adolescence can already be a stressful time in a young woman’s life, which is why we welcome every patient with a level of sensitivity and empathy that makes them feel safe and comfortable.
We host a range of pediatric and adolescent gynecology clinics that address common issues including heavy menstrual bleeding and painful periods, as well as rarer conditions such as differences of sex development and hormone replacement after ovarian failure.
Whether your child needs routine or specialized care, we always put our patients and their reproductive health above all else. As one of the few centers in the Rocky Mountain region that treats medically complex gynecological conditions, we work hard to provide the best care to our patients and are grateful for the opportunity to care for your daughter.
One dedicated team for all of your child’s needs
The team in our Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Department includes five board-certified physicians, who have additional expertise in these specialized areas:
Pediatric and adolescent gynecologists
Our pediatric and adolescent gynecologists are all board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. All of our gynecologists have also studied to work with children and teenagers and have either fellowship training in pediatric and adolescent gynecology or a focused practice designation in pediatric and adolescent gynecology by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. With each gynecologist focused on a particular field of study associated with specific medical conditions, our team offers comprehensive care from the most common conditions to complex gynecologic needs.
Pediatric psychologists
Our dedicated psychology team specializes in helping children, adolescents and young adults with gynecologic health conditions. Pediatric psychologists are doctoral trained behavioral health clinicians that receive specialized training in supporting the coping and adjustment of children with medical conditions. Our psychology team is available to meet with children and their families in the gynecology clinic, often on the same day as your medical visit, with the goal of supporting well-being and psychological health associated with gynecologic conditions.
Physical therapists
We utilize a team of physical therapists who are trained in physical therapy of the abdominal core and pelvic floor. Our therapists provide sensitive and specialized physical therapy care to our teens with acute and chronic pain.
Women’s health nurse practitioners
Our women’s health nurse practitioners work with women in all stages of their lives, especially adolescent and teen girls. As one of the first people that our patients interact with, it is important that our women’s health nurse practitioners create a comfortable space for girls to be open and for parents to feel their child is in caring hands. Our nurse practitioners do this by listening to their concerns and meeting those concerns with compassionate care. Many times, they provide a wholistic view of the patient's condition and offer an integrative approach that combines education and counseling along with medical expertise, which reassures our patients that they have come to the right place.
Pediatric and adolescent gynecology nurses
Our team includes several nurses who specialize in pediatric and adolescent gynecology. They work closely with our doctors to ensure that your child receives the care they need even after they’ve left the hospital. You may meet with our nurse practitioners to review images, discuss your daughter’s diagnosis and treatment options and learn more about her condition.
