Meet Joshua Bear, MD

I care for children with neurological disorders, often with complex conditions or refractory epilepsies. In addition to providing the highest quality clinical care, I am also a neuroscience researcher exploring the neurophysiological rhythms of our brains.

For Patients:
I am studying how epilepsy affects our cognition. I use advanced and non-invasive techniques to study how different parts of the brain communicate. Some of my research uses functional MRI, magnetoencephalography (a tool for measuring the magnetic fields produced by your brain), and high density electroencephalography (hdEEG).
For Referring Providers:
I am interested in complex and surgical epilepsies as well as the interplay between epilepsy and sleep. I am currently studying the neurophysiological underpinnings of electrical status epilepticus of sleep (ESES) using a multimodal approach involving fMRI and magnetoencephalography (MEG).
