Freedom from seizures

Our pediatric experts can tell families a lot about their child's new diagnosis and the treatment to come. One thing they can't often tell them: how they will feel.

That's why we connected a family approaching epilepsy surgery with a family who's been there – to answer questions, to shed light and to offer hope – from diagnosis to surgery to recovery. These conversations heal. Watch them in the journey on the following pages.

Meet the families

Our new family

Lianna has so many seizures that she can never be alone, even in her own backyard. Her parents, Cordelia and Randy, and brother, Noah, hope that her upcoming surgery will help reduce or eliminate her seizures so she can experience the freedom of being a teenager.

Our experienced family

Maddie and her parents, Deanna and Chris, thought she may never be able to drive, bike or even cross the street by herself because of her seizures. But then she had epilepsy surgery in 2015.
