Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), an obesity-related complication, is expected to become the leading cause of liver transplants in adults. As it affects 10% of all children and 38% of children with obesity in the United States, early intervention is crucial to prevent severe complications. Researchers at Children's Hospital Colorado have discovered that sugar intake plays a significant role in the severity and potential reversal of NAFLD.
